Life-Changing Medical Breakthroughs

By Tommi Hanley

There are some amazing new medical treatments being offered to treat a wide variety of illness and ailments and a seminar on April 26th will explore these options. The day-long workshop will also explain why we have so many “new” aliments and diseases today, most of which are connected to imbalances in our immune system and how we can heal.

Dr. Grant Pagdin, Dr. Alana Berg and Dr. Diego Navarro (who is travelling from Sayulita, Mexico to join us for the day), will present cutting-edge information and treatments options for alleviating chronic pain and arthritis, relieving joint, ligament and muscle damage and allowing people to heal from illnesses such as Lymes disease, lupus, and much more.

Kelowna’s Dr. Grant Pagdin will be making a presentation on Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) that is offering quick and effective solutions to patients who suffer from arthritis, chronic pain and sports injuries.

“One fellow I am working with is training for Iron Man UK in July,” says Dr. Pagdin. “He is 66-years-old and has mild arthritis in both knees which creates pain while running. We injected his left knee with PRP a couple of weeks ago and he was cycling the next day and running the day after that, pain-free. He’ll be back for injections to the other knee later this month.”

The PRP therapy has many applications, says Dr. Pagdin. “A woman who saw me for facial rejuvenation had also been experiencing some thinning of her hair. When we injected the PRP to her face we also included the first couple of inches of her scalp. At four weeks post-treatment, she was already noticing some new hair growth and wants to return for additional therapy to the rest of her scalp.”

“As a holistic pharmacist I know that people are struggling with chronic pain and conventional medicine can only offer pharmaceuticals that mask that pain and can cause permanent unwanted side effects,: says Esther Simmons Foot, owner of Prescription Health Studio, western Canada’s only integrated pharmacy located in Kelowna. “Stem cell research and other cutting edge therapies such as Plasma Rich Platelet therapy offer permanent solutions to otherwise untreatable chronic pain.”

“We are very fortunate to have forward-thinking physicians such as Dr. Pagdin to pave the way of modern medicine. Because of doctors like him someday in the not-too-distant future we will be shocked by how we have treated chronic pain thus far.”

Dr. Diego Navarro will be focusing on Stem Cell Therapy, a break-through treatment that is being used to treat a wide spectrum of ailments including treat autism, cerebral palsy, heart failure and rheumatoid arthritis. Adult stem cells can be extracted from many areas of the body, including the bone marrow, fat, and peripheral blood. Once the cells have been harvested, they are sent to the lab where they are purified and assessed for quality before being reintroduced back in the patient. Since the stem cells come from the patient there is no possibility for rejection. At his clinic in Sayulita, Mexico, Dr. Navarro is dedicated to Integrative medicine – the use of Western medicine with complementary and alternative well-proven therapies.

“It is so important to get to the root of your symptoms such as allergies, pain, fatigue, hormonal changes, digestive symptoms, auto immune diseases and more,” says Dr. Alana Berg, of the Mission Naturopathic Clinic. On April 26th Dr. Berg will delve into the causes and cures for the “21st Century Condition”, a term she uses to describe the wide variety of immune imbalances that so many people are experiencing today, many of which are caused by the environment we are living in, including the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink. “Attendees will be empowered to really understand why their bodies are imbalanced how they can change their lives and their health. We will look at why your health is being challenged, not just asses what is going on.”
